While I’ve always wanted to subscribe to one of those monthly beauty boxes, I’ve been wary of what I’d get – beauty boxes tend aren’t particularly personalised, and you really aren’t sure what you’d get each month. For some other boxes, you just get a vague idea of what’s inside – I remember ordering a Japanese-themed Vanity Trove box quite a few years ago, and personally, I only liked a couple of products inside, and it was at least half-filled with foil sachets – no. No! I didn’t order a beauty box to receive foil samples!
That’s what I liked about The Little Black Beauty Box (known as TLBBB henceforth!) TLBBB is a uniquely-themed box is released each month, and you get to choose whether or not you want to order it. For instance, there was a Clarins-themed box in October last year.
I ordered December’s Shine Bright Box a little late (the vouchers have already expired!) on the 25th of January, and the box arrived just 2 days later on the 27th. The boxes are sold for $15.90 instead of the usual $22.90 once the vouchers have expired, and that’s fine for someone like me who doesn’t typically use vouchers.
This is what came in the box – 14 items in total!
What’s in the box:
1. Shiseido:
- Perfect Rouge Deluxe Sample (2.5g) (I received RS612, Gilded Wine)
- Luminising Satin Eye Color Trio
- White Lucent Total Brightening Serum (9ml)
- White Lucent Power Brightening Mask
- White Lucent Brightening Spot-Control Base UV, 10ml (SGD$75 for 30ml!)
- Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate, 10ml
I’ve tried the Shiseido’s Aqualabel Special Gel Cream and the Shiseido Aqualabel Special Gel Cream (which was my favourite for years!), so it’s a good opportunity for me to try other lines in their skincare and makeup range. The deep red Gilded Wine I received is sooo vampy, and great for me to expand my lipstick collection at the moment! Not to mention my mum was kind of jealous, since it’s a Shiseido lipstick. 😛
(Cut: Strangely enough, the concentrate’s expiry date is in 2019. That’s much longer than the typical 3-year shelf-life of skincare products!)
2. NARS Nail Polish (15ml) (I received Schiap)
Every box has a random colour in it, and I received a gorgeous (and shocking!) bright pink, Schiap. NARS is a really luxe brand imo, so this full-sized polish (SGD$30 for 15ml) really came as a surprise in this box. Schiap is absolutely perfect for a Chinese New Year manicure!
3. Clé De Peau Beaute:
- Wrinkle Correcting Concentrate (1.8ml) (not pictured)
- Sheer Fluid Veil (0.3ml sachet)
- Radiant Fluid Foundation (0.3ml sachet)
- Refreshing Nourishing Emulsion (5ml)
- Refreshing Protective Emulsion (5ml)
- Refreshing Balancing Lotion (12ml)
- Refreshing Cleansing Foam (6ml)
CDPB is beaaaaautiful!! While I’ve heard amazing things about their makeup, I suppose sampling their skincare range won’t hurt either! I’ll probably be passing on these products to my mum – ‘Wrinkle Correcting Concentrate’? Probably not suited for someone my age 😛
4. Vouchers (N.A. right now)
There are vouchers available for you to claim makeover sessions, and discounts from Tangs (since this is a collaboration with Tangs.), but the caveat of purchasing this box late, at $15.90, is that the vouchers no longer work.
Was this box worth it? Definitely. Since I chose to order this box, I was sure that I’d like about everything inside – in fact, I loved most of the products in the box! (save the foil sachets. Honestly, I can’t do anything with 0.3ml of product, and I’d much rather cosmetics companies leave them out.) I’m hooked right now, and I’m probably going to order more beauty boxes soon 🙂
