A while back, I purchased a book written by Pony from Pony’s Beauty Diary – she’s actually got a ton of books! They were obviously written in Korean, but they have been translated to Chinese in Taiwan 🙂
I chose the 4D Versatile-Looks one, because it was on sale hehe (25% off!) so I got it for around $20.
She has tons of looks in the book – and they’re all absolutely beautiful! :’) There are 4 chapters in the book, each with its own unique theme:
- All Skills for Flawless Skin + Magical Contouring
- Make-up Surgery for Eyes + Single Item Make-up
- Sexy vs Innocent + Princess
- Modern vs Cute + Witch
This is one of my favourite looks – her Snow Queen look. May not be practical for everyday looks, but this is stunning!! I mean look at her ~tears~ :’)
She explains how to create each look in a very detailed manner, with instructions for each step. At the top of the page, she also lists the products she’s used for this look (no issue having to guess what’s the best product to recreate the look!!). What I especially like is that she uses both drugstore and mid-high end products: I’ve seen products from Kate, Clio, and Etude House, to Bobbi Brown, Chanel, and Lancome. Most of the products she uses are high-quality, and affordable + accessible 🙂
For instance, this is her ‘Amazing Shot’ look, which is ‘Perfect for contouring for shot, too heavy for daily make-up, and stay matt base’ (yeah the English is pretty funny :p) While it’s really interesting, I do have one issue… Everything is in traditional Chinese!! I’m sorry, but I’m terrible at understanding anything other than elementary Chinese terms 😡 I had to ask my mum to translate 90% of things for me!
There is also a DVD at the back of the book, with about 7 video tutorials. They’ve also been translated to Chinese, so they’re… mildly understable. You can find more of her books here, from Kinokuniya.
Has anyone else tried any of Pony’s books before? Let me know in the comments!
Edit: THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!! 100 FOLLOWERS 🙂 I’ll definitely mention this in my next post!
I love Pony! I didn’t know she made books… I may need to get my friend in Taiwan to ship me some. I can’t read traditional Chinese very well but the book seems pretty picture heavy!

I know!! Pony’s so gorgeous and her looks are always so creative 🙂 The original would be in Korean, so I guess Chinese is better than nothing.
