First Look: Missha M Magic Cushion (2015)

Warning: This post is 90% pictures, 10% text!
I have tried to colour-correct most of the images to as close as real-life as possible.

This Missha M Magic Cushion has been a huuuuuuge deal in Korea for the past month. Why? This was priced at 4800KRW – but I purchased it for double the price (including shipping!) on TesterKorea haha. Buuuuuut this product is out of stock just about everywhere in Korea (and Singapore! it actually retails for SGD$24.90). This product does not come with refills, and the shade featured in this post is #21.

Adapted from Missha; I’ve done up a crude translation of the details to English! And moving on to the actual product.

The cushion case is fairly sturdy; I would say slightly less so than the Amore Pacific cushions though. Fits perfectly in the palm of my hand!

Slowly peeling the protective sticker off… Here’s the cushion itself!

Comparison with Missha Magic Cushion (Empty) Case

IMG_5108

IMG_5111

As you can see, the empty case is slightly larger and fatter than the 2015 M Magic Cushion.

The newer product has a slight bezel where the cushion puff sits! Stylish design improvements I suppose?

IMG_5118

The new puff is however slightly smaller than the old one.

Closeups of the different cushions – I filled the empty cushion case on the left with the Missha UV Cushion Base, and mixed in some moisturizers.

Unblended swatches of the 2 products: Top: Old #21 product, Bottom: New #21 Product

IMG_5125

Slightly blended swatches. My face is slightly tanner than the skin here, so I suppose this formula is alright – albeit a little orange.

IMG_5127

Blended swatches. As you can see this stuff sets pretty fast – it dried enough between shots that I had a bit of trouble blending it in! Definitely work quickly with this formula!

Hope this post helps 🙂 I think it’s definitely worth a shot, at the amazing price point. I will be making a comparison post with the IOPE, Laneige, as well as Hera cushions soon.

You can get the Missha M Magic Cushion at TesterKorea and BeautyNetKorea.

  1. Have you tried the one of Sulwhasoo (it’s called evenfair perfecting cushion, I believe)?
The formula of this product seems similar to that one. If you have tried that one before, what would you say for the comparison between the two?

Oh, and I nominated you for Liebster Award, please go check on my post (will be up soon) about it if you are interested in participating, if you are not, it’s completely fine! 😀

    • I have heard of the Sulwhasoo Evenfair Perfecting Cushion, but sadly I haven’t been able to purchase this to compare! It’s wayyyyy too far out of my price range :p To be honest, I’d say that the Sulwhasoo is almost definitely way better; the price point, and the brand prestige should already affirm that fact (but YMMV!). I do however have the Hera cushion which is somewhere along the same ‘level’ as the Sulwhasoo cushion, so I’ll be reviewing that in time – look out for that! 🙂

Also, thank you for nominating me for Liebster award! I’ll definitely consider participating (if I have time :'() once I’ve seen yours 🙂

      • Would definitely check both the this and the Hera one out when I get the chance!
Unfortunately, here in Thailand, the higher end brands available here are Laneige and Sulwhasoo. We do have etude house and skinfood, also the face shop, but these three don’t make my shade. 😦

Thank you very much for you response. 😀

    • Hi Elia, not that I know of sorry! It seems like they don’t make refills due to the low price point >< The most I know of are the empty sponge refills they make for their Magic Cushion Case.

  2. I totally agree with you when you say that it sets pretty fast! I was surprised because I wasn’t expecting that at all, so when I first used it, I had a little trouble blending other products onto my face quickly XD
mind checking out my review on it?

    • Hi Charmaine!! 🙂 I just checked out your review, and you’re totally right! I think you tried the newer moisture version (which I was tempted to try), which might be more suitable for my skin type. For this normal version, I feel like it pills up on my skin very easily, and emphasizes dry spots – it could be because of the long-lasting/quick setting formula!

Have fun in Singapore when you’re back from Australia(?)! Are you from Singapore? The weather is great at the end of the year – way more cooling than it is now! I can’t say that you’ll have lots of fun shopping for beauty products in Singapore (I feel like stuff is so much cheaper online), but you’ll definitely have a blast eating 😀
